•Scripture: John 12:3-17
Event: Washing the feet of the Apostles
Jesus Christ was humble
•Recipe: Texas sheet cake(This is great for a crowd)
Ingredients: 2 C.flour, 2 C.granulated sugar, ½ tsp salt, 1 tsp soda, 2 cubs butter, 1 C. water, 2T. Cocoa, 1 tsp vanilla, ½ C. milk. Frosting: 1 cube butter, 3T. cocoa, 4 T. milk, 3 C. powder sugar, ½ tsp. vanilla.
Instructions: Mix flour, sugar , salt, and soda in a large bowl; set aside. In a saucepan, bring to a boil, water, butter, and cocoa. Add to the dry ingredients the eggs, vanilla, and milk. Add all this to the mixture in the large bowl and blend well. Pour into a greased and floured jelly roll pan (large cookie sheet)). Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. While this is baking, use the last 5 items on the ingredient list to make the frosting. To do this, mix butter, cocoa, and milk. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix well and spread over cake. Frost the cake while warm.
•Tradition: Be sure to schedule a night when your whole family can get together to go see the Christmas lights.
•Small Gift Idea: Popcorn gift bag. Decorate a brown sack again using either fabric or a computer to make it look like a large popcorn bag, you can make it stripped or put on a bag with a friendly face and “popcorn” pieces coming out the top. Fill the bag with a video rental coupon and microwave popcorn. The tag reads: “Hope Yule Enjoy the Show”
